A test model constructed from 500 identical laser-cut card pieces. Squares touching corner to corner and rotated about their axis by 90° form a structure called a Kelvin Foam Truss [after Lord Kelvin]. This is the same as a wire-frame model of close-packing truncated octahedra, and is very closely related to the structure of cubic close-packing spheres.
